The ongoing saga of my contract with Spencer Construction (Ventura, CA):

Since March , 2010 I have had dealings with Rayner Spencer Construction of Ventura, CA.  Eventually, I filed a complaint against him with the CA Contractors State License Board and he sued me in small claims court.  The CA Contractors State License Board was unable to proceed with the complaint as they did not "not have the evidence necessary to proceed with an investigation" and his suit against me was dismissed in small claims court.

On September 28, 2011 I received a letter from Edward J. Carroll, a Ventura lawyer.   Mr. Rayner Spencer retained Mr. Carroll.  In his letter, Mr. Carroll writes that the site you are now on, my blog/web site relating my experiences with Mr. Raynor Spencer, "contains numerous untruths and allegations of dishonest labor practices by Rayner Spencer Construction and its owners and employees" and that "many business dealings between parties often result in dissatisfaction and ill will".

Mr Carroll also states "Please remember that you brought action against Rayner Spencer Construction before the Californinia Contractors Licensing Board (note: he means the CA Contractors State License Board) and were unsuccessful in convincing that tribunal of the truth and accuracy of your statements".  My letter from the CA Contractors State License Board actually states “we do not have the evidence necessary to proceed with an investigation” and says nothing about the truth and accuracy of my statements.

Mr Carroll's letter states that "many of your statements might be construed as Deflamation/Slander/Libel per se".  I am sorry that Mr. Spencer viewed my photographs and commentary in such a way and have chosen to remove it until I have time to revise it.  In the meantime, should you want more information please email me

Please be careful in your dealings with contractors.  The State Contractors License Board is a great resource.  I recommend you read and follow their 10 steps for hiring a contractor .  I wish I had done so.
